Abstract The extraction of several willow leaves was conducted by Soxhlet extraction and the sample luteoloside were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The results showed that there was no luteoloside in the samples of Salix phylicifolia collected from Harbin Botanical Garden in Harbin and S. koreensis in Yichun. The content of luteoloside in descending order was S. linearistipularis in Harbin,S. integra in Yichun and S. linearistipularis in Yichun, and luteoloside contents in other varieties collected were much lower than the above varieties. Most of the genus Salix contain luteoloside, but the contents are somewhat different.
