The Typical Correlation between Yield, Fiber Quality and Plant Characters in Cotton and Its Path Analysis

摘要 The results from analyzing the typical correlation between yield, fiber quality and plant characters of 10 spring cotton varieties in the regional test in Henan province in 2006, showed that the plant characters with short growth period, middle plant height, lower first branch and more branches should be selected as the ideal breeding material for breeding new cotton varieties with high yield and quality because the plant characters with short growth period, middle plant height, lower first branch and more branches not only raises cotton bolls per plant, cotton boll weight and lint percentage, but also improves the quality of main fibers. The path analysis indicates the direct selection of yield character should pay more attention to the plant characters of strong boll-bearing, higher bolls per plant and boll weight.
