Abstract The diurnal variation of photosynthetic characteristic parameters of five local common fruiter-tea intercropping patterns just as orange-tea,Chinese chestnut-tea,waxberry-tea,loquat-tea and gingko-tea in Suzhou Dongting Mountain region was studied using CI-340 portable photosynthesis system. The diurnal variation of photosynthetic characteristic parameters of five tested intercropping exhibited single-peak curve;and the control was double-peak curve.Correlation analysis showed that the leaf temperature increased with the increasing of the intensity of photosynthetic active radiation, which induced the increase of net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance and the decrease of intercellular CO_2 concentration. The results showed that the loquat-tea in five tested intercropping patterns was the most beneficial to the growth of tea plants, and is adaptive for cultivation in Suzhou Dongting Mountain region in Jiangsu Province, and its daily mean of net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, intercellular CO_2 concentration was 1.46 mumol·m~(-2)·s~(-1),0.91 mol·m~(-2)·s~(-1),60.43 mol·m~(-2)·s~(-1),305.57 mumol·m~(-2)·s~(-1)respectively
