Medicinal Compositae Resources and Their Diversity in Pangquangou Nature Reserve, Shanxi

Abstract Medicinal Compositae resources and its diversity in Pangquangou Nature Reserve were studied. There are 90 species of medicinal Compositae plants belonging to 42 genera, which accounts for 86.54% and 93.33% of the total species and genera of the family there. The geographic element of the flora is of multiplicity, and predominant with temperate floristic elements (71.43% for genera and 54.44% for species).The life form of them takes perennial the herbs as the dominant plants. The medicinal organ is whole plant at most, secondly root. They are mainly divided into diaphoretic, antipyretic, blood-quickening stasis-dispelling, damp-clearing, dampness-transforming, blood-stanching and antitussive according to the efficacy of medicinal plants. The active constituents of Compositae medicinal plants are mainly divided into polysaccharides, alkaloids, flavonoids, Coumarins and saponins
