Review of ornamental plant germplasm resources and strategies for the germplasm research and construction of resource nursery in Guangdong

摘要 There is an abundance of tropical and subtropical ornamental plant germplasm resources in Guangdong province. The paper emphasized the significance of collection, conservation, evaluation and utilization of the ornamental resources for Guangdong, reviewed the advancement in the research works of ornamental germplasm, and discussed the problems such as weak basis of the research, less investments, serious erosion of the germplasm and lack of the system for breeding and utilization. Based on the characteristics of the germplasm in Guangdong, some noval ideas have been suggested for the research in the future and construction of resource nursery of ornamental plants germplasm in Guangdong.
